wiring harness help 93/95 ? six speed swap to 95
i have a question would the wiring harness from a 93 work on a 95. i'm thinking about getting rid of my 4l60e as this is the 4th time i,ve had to replace this junk.. found a good price but it's a 93. i was told the computer could be flashed to work on a six speed..... thanks for any info
The wiring harness from a 93 will not have any connections for the MAF sensor, and the injectors are wired for batch fire, not full sequential like the 94-97 cars. Your 95 PCM can be reflashed to an M6 program, and has to be if you change to an M6 because of the differences in the VSS signal (pulses per revolution of the tailshaft) and the electronic controls for the M6 (skip shift, reverse lockout).
thanks . i got my car being tuned now. i got a 350 lt1 it been bored 30 over with an eagle crank eagle h beam rods , frg.alum.pistons,trick flow heads, all that with a few exter stuff nothing is stock but the block. the trany is a jasper racing trany with a **** kit 2400 stall i now have 3.42 gear. car sat for about 3 years now the trany is out again. i'm get sick of this dam 4l60e. Would you know if a 93 trany t56 work on the car if i found a 95 wiring harness?
If I understand, you have a 1995 A4. You want to convert it to an M6. You are completely over-complicating it.
You do NOT have to change the PCM or the main wiring harness in your 95. You do not need to get a 93 T56. You just have to have the PCM flashed with an M6 program. That takes care of the PCM. Then you alter the tranny harness, either by adding an M6 harness, or rewiring the A4 harness. The only electronic interface to the M6 is the skip shift solenoid (you do not want to wire it up. You just need to put a 2,000ohm resistor across the two wires that would attach to the solenoid) and the reverse lockout solenoid (you do want that to work). There are other changes like substituting the clutch switch for the park/neutral switch, to allow the starter to operate.
This topic gets covered all the time on the "Drivetrain" forum, which is where this should have been posted. I'll move your post there. Try a "search" on that fourm.... its really a lot easier than you appear to think.

thanks. i was told my wiring harness would not work. but see i found just the motor and trany out of a 93 with a six speed. i was thinking about buying them and then putting my a4 on the 93 motor and reselling it. keeping the m6 for my car.. if you get me..
If you put a 93 T56 in it, you do NOT have to change the wiring harness. There will be nothing for the skip shift wiring to connect to.
Are you aware that the 93 T56 is significantly different than the 94-and-up T56's, with regard to gear ratios and torque capacity? There are two different versions, one (M28) with a 3.36 1st gear, rated at 350 lb-ft, and another (M29) with 2.97 1st gear and 400 lb-ft capacity. The 94-and-up T56's (MN6) have a 2.66 1st gear and are rated at 450 lb-ft.

It's not hard to wire up the T56 after the swap. I don't know why you're trying to make it so hard. Are you using this guide?

I would not use a jasper transmission...also with a 2400 stall you are leaving alot on the table. Guys like the sponsors on here, or if you can find a local guy to rebuild it, I would guarantee it would hold. I know that a shop in my area has the transmissions going in the 9's. My transmission was rebuilt last winter, and it had everything upgraded to good parts...my uncle deals with jasper, they always seem like their stuff doesn't hold up.
