I am pretty excited about the JetHot headers. Does anyone have anything to report about them?

Thumbs up

Jason, although I have the Hooker headers (Jet-Hot based their's from Hooker), I also helped a friend install a set of Jet-Hot. Both the Hooker and Jet-Hots are easy to install (for LS1 LT headers). Far easier than LT1 shorties. The difference from Hooker headers is they clocked the collector 180 degrees from where Hooker has theirs. The O2 sensors are positioned on the in board side of the Y-Pipe. Jet-Hot is now supplying the needed O2 extensions for '01-'02 LS1s. Also, (unlike Hooker) the air-tube plates and EGR plate are not threaded, for use with the OEM hardware. You'll need nuts on the underside for that. Jet-Hot is working on making '01-'02 specific headers (without the EGR tube plate) sometime in mid-march IIRC. For the price, they are the best headers out there, you won't be disappointed. In fact, someone posted dyno results from just the LT install. They net'ed ~25 HP and ~27 TQ.

Thank you very much for confirming what I had expected. Since you have experienced first-hand the quality of them and how they install, I am wondering if you can answer a couple of questions that I am sure many other people would like to know besides myself:

Any idea on the ground clearance? From what you know on the installation you helped with, do you see any possibilities of clearance issues on a lowered car?

Also, do you How do they compare to other LT headers like FLP headers, etc...? I know that this is a question on many people's minds.

Any addiational info you can provide would be great. Thanks!

Cool! PLEASE keep us updated. Plan on doing any before and after dyno testing by chance?

Got a dyno day in two weeks. Getting some numbers before the Jet Hot headers go in. Looking forward to seeing at least 20+ RWHP more like 30 after tuning. I'll post them when I get done.

I saw a post on another board that a guy got 22 RWHP and 30 TQ with just the headers. He hadn't done an A/F ratio tune yet which should get at least 10 more HP. Our dyno day is in a couple of weeks and I'm not planing on putting in my headers until late Feb. I'll post numbers when I'm done.

Sorry Jason, wanted to see how long the suspense could last.

No, seriously ...

Ground clearance is actually very good. My buddy's SS has lowering springs (IIRC GMS). His LT tuck up nicely, the Y-pipe could be an issue, but the installer can rotate it to make more room while not banging the floor board. Mine has about an 1" clearance from the floor board, but I also have the GM SS suspension. I have no clearance issues at all. I wish I still had the images of my ground clearance (previous hard drive crashed) , I might take some later today if my POS digital camera can do a good job.

From what I have seen personally from headers like SLP (not much info from my experience on FLPs) is that they are the hardest to install, have limited ground clearance (less than Hookers), and some banging issues with the floor board. Mind you, this could be due to the fact they also utilize cats with theirs. Workmanship, you find goods and bads from both. Performance wise, they all give similar results, although the best so far have been the Grottyohanns (now sold by QTP) and the Dynatechs. Installation, Hooker/Jet-Hots seem to be the easiest to install.

In regards to the Hooker's (Jet-Hot's) ...

Some have reported the primary tubes rubbing with the K-Member on the driver's side. I have not seen that yet on the Hookers and Jet-Hots I have helped install, although they do come close (about 1/2" or so), I have yet to see any rubbing.
To service your transmission (mostly A4 guys), some claim that you need to remove the passenger's side header to fully remove the trans. When I did my converter swap, I did not have to do that. Also, when a Mechanic friend of mine rebuilt my trans, he did not have to do that either. I was on my driveway and my friend was on a lift.
If I remember more, I'll look for this thread and post. Hope that helps you guys.
