My car was on the dyno again yesterday...

Well after pulling my 614 RWHP down when being tuned on a high humidity level day, and a hot one at that as well in July, at an elevation of 3,000 ft above sea level, I have been waiting to get my Z back on another dyno to see what is doing on a cooler day at a more "normal" altitude.

There was a local dyno shop doing a "free" dyno day so I went. It really made me mad because their dyno had always given them problems with cars that had a sudden jump in power (mostly turbo cars). Mine was no different. Once mine hit 4500 RPM on the dyno, it spun every time and they couldn't get a good number. On the positive side though, after it was spinning and they let off the gas, and a few seconds went by and it got traction again, the dyno started recording and it was still over 600 RWHP. The shop told me it was easily making 650+ RWHP, but it would have been nice to have the dyno sheet to show it.

They will email me the dyno sheet in a few days. I'll post it up (although its not really going to show much)

Nice Ben! I'm sure you are putting out some stout numbers. I can't wait to get mine dialed in 1st then head to the dyno and see what it does. The current tune in there I'll keep and run it and see what it puts out. I'll do a comparison afterwards to see how far I was. LOL!

They couldn't give you the dyno sheet on the spot? Weird.

This was a new shop (hence the free dyno day). They didn't even have a printer setup to print off dyno sheets yet. They said they would email the dyno sheets out early this week.

Just got the dyno sheet (finally). I also just found out today that only one of my two fuel pumps were working at the time How the car never got dangerously lean, I really don't know as it only got to 12.0 on the wideband 02.

It further backs up me questioning what my car will really do on a dyno on a cool day at a normal low altitude when things are running right.

My guess is from the sheet, that it probably was making around 650 or so on that day with no meth and only one fuel pump.

Also (as I just saw that I didn't post this info on this thread), while on the dyno my meth never kicked in either. Thats more or less what I was getting at by my previous statement of how I have no idea how it didn't get dangerously lean on the dyno that day

The car is getting the bugs worked out right now. The relay to the 2nd fuel pump was heavily corroded, and has been replaced.

The meth never came on because the relay for the ABS was what it was wired into, and the ABS went out on the dyno as well that day

those people need to learn how to strap a car to the dyno its not a 1500+ monster. what tires did you have on the car when you ran it?

Their dyno has literally the roller 2 feet away from the wall. They don't have the correct leverage to strap anything other than almost straight vertical straps from the dyno to the axel. If it were longer they could use straps from a much better angle. This is a dispute they are having with the company they purchased the dyno off of as you are correct in saying there shouldn't be any reason I am spinning. My car is fast, but not that fast

I had Nitto DR's which we even deflated hoping to get better traction. There were others including a Ford Lightening putting down somewhere around 350 RWHP that also spun on the dyno that day.

If its spinning when your up in speed deflating would probaly hurt traction as a tire grows it has a smaller contact patch.

That really wasn't the issue nearly as much as the lack of angle options for the straps on that particular dyno.

So your saying the car made 600plus rwhp with one fuel pump?

Apparantly. No meth either. FWIW it did go too lean a couple times and we shut it down instantly. But the other pulls it seem to hold on the wideband safe enough to make the pulls, although they didn't fully record what it did.
