True dual or cat back

My car is a DD. it is a street/strip car. would it be reasonable to run true duals or just buy a cat back?

How much noise can you put up with. If your your just going to dump them before the rear axle, it usually is pretty loud. I prefer the cat-back with a cut-out, but that's just me, since I can't afford to get a set-up built that will clear my sub-frame, TA, etc, and still go over the axle.
I don't run a cat by the way.

I think at this point you are better off just buying a hooker catback or something along those lines. True duals are cool and all but unless you have some pretty decent mods they are kind of overkill.

i think calling true duals overkill is a false statement, they dont flow too much or too well for ANY car my longtubes and 2.5 inch duals gave me a ton of power.

if you have the money get a dual setup, if not get a high flowing catback.

true duals are overkill when people put 3" with dumps on a bolt on car, i know because i did it.

If you don't have aftermarket headers, then true duals are overkill. ;)

My opinion is to get the true duals. Since you are thinking about it now, once you get a cat-back you will always be thinking "I wonder what true duals would have sounded like..."

Then a year or two down the road, you will ditch the cat-back and go true duals anyways. That is what I did. I went through three different exhaust setups before finally deciding to go with duals. I will never look back!

ok. i am planning on ordering kooks headers in a few weeks. my dad has a friend who owns a welding shop and everything so i can get it welded for free. he is a great welder. so i think i will be going true duals. i dont mind it being loud. i used to have a 78 omega cammed with hooker headers and a 3 in exhaust that came out right in front of the rear wheels. it was loud as hell. so i think i can live with it. thank you for you input everybody.

That's an entirely different story. Why not go with the true duals in that situation? It will be loud as hell, enjoy.

With that said, you are use to a litte noise, and know what your getting into. :lol: Go for it.

Matter of opinion but they sound so much better than my borla catback ever did.
