I just live with mine man. Mine does the same thing but I just put a sunglasses case in their and it fills it up and stays nicely. I seen a website where someone redid the entire interior of a third gen and fixed this problem with replacing the little elastic strip with cutting it and re-sewing it on there. Big attention to detail though. I would tell you the website if i could remember it for the life of me. Sorry about that. But thats what i've seen done. Might be more trouble than its worth to try that but thats the only way I've seen it done with out being replaced by aftermarket interior lining.

are you serious? a harder question would be are there any onwers of hardtops?

i don't think you're gonna be able to repair. try an upholstery place, see what they can do.
