How to pick up a car?

How do you guys usually pick up a used car? The last car i bought the owner delivered it to me illegally w/o plates so i don't really wanna do that. What is the best way to pick up a car out of state other than a trailer? Just lookin for ideas here. Thanks

Just drive it with the plates that are on it until you get plates in your own name. I believe that if you have documentation showing that you just purchased the car you will be ok. Probably depends on the state and local laws, but typically you get 30-45 days grace period to get the title and registration in your name.

Some cops may be a hard *** and give you a ticket, then you'd just have to go to court and show them you just bought the car.

According to Maryland State Police... You have to present the title/bill of sale at the MVA, get the tags, and put it on the vehicle in order to drive it home. (Or else trailer it). I drove from MD to NJ, bought (the title) to my camaro, drove back to MD, got tags, drove back to NJ, put the tags on, and drove it home. That's why most people just bring the tags off a spare vehicle with them and slap those on... just don't get pulled over.

when I picked my bird up, I just took the tag off my sonoma and brought with me, didn't cross any state lines though, but did drive bout an hour and a half.
