Coming to the Forced Induction realm. Need Advice!

I have finally started on my dream of owning a Supercharged 383 LT1. I have contacted board vedors and have almost narrowed down my parts for the Long block. Would you guys/gals please look over what I have so far and let me know if I need to upgrade, down grade, or do something totally different. If I have forgotten anything please throw that in also.

My goal: 550-600RWHP. I want to be able to drive the car on short trips of 100 miles or less and not be in fear of the car breaking down. This will be a weekend vehicle with Occasional trip to the track. I want to do it right the first time and not have to work on the car everytime I get it out of the driveway.

I currently have a MSD digital 6+. Can this ignition be used or do I need to go with another.

Other than tuning, tranny and exhaust, what else am I missing for a dependable, streetable Lt1? Thanks!:)

Your setup sounds similar to mine.
Regarding the Mahle pistons, I am not aware that Mahle makes blower pistons. Any way, you'll want a forged piston (2618 material) with about a -31cc dish. I know Diamond, Ross, JE supply these. MSD dig 6 will be fine.

You should consider an upgraded driveshaft and rear like a 12 bolt. And 4 bolt mains. Go for an internal balance on the motor, too.

For the oil pan, I prefer the Canton 242T. For lifters, I like the Morels but they're prob. not needed for your app. I assume you have LTs headers, too.

Transmission? Clutch?

Dyno tune too....and set aside some extra cash for your budget. Chances are you'll need it.

I wouldn't hesitate to spend the money on a set of true "blower" pistons. I prefer the Hellfire rings for severe duty applications. A water/alcohol injection kit may be something worth considering as well. Sounds like you've got a pretty good start on a strong combination. What are your power/performance goals?

I am wanting to make 550-600RWHP and keep the car streetable and dependable. It will not be a daily driver, but I would like to drive it 100-150 miles per week and not have to contiually have it worked on. It will see a couple passes at the track per month, but not excessive as I want to use it more as a badazz street car for cruise inns and car shows.:cool:

You can't choose a piston brand until you know what CR you are shooting for. Compstar is the cream of the offshore sourced parts, good choice there. I would buy GM sourced lifters before getting Comps. Comp has had QC issues lately and I am getting a little leery of them. Most likely they are going to be made in the same factory though. Otherwise, you seem to have done your homework. You also got good advice about a tune and the need to consider beefing up the rest of the drivetrain. Tuning will clearly be needed as well.

definitely a good plan. you'll love the dual in-tank setup, Lonnie does great work. are you planning on running stock Trickflows or getting them ported? I've got a set of Ai ported Trickflows on mine, just waiting on the cam to come back now.
