Out of the 600 1993 pace cars built, were any of them 6 speeds?

Great car.I believe there were 633 produced(RPO B5A)4L60 HydraMatic W/.70 4th gear. Not sure, but I think they were all automatic trans. With its limited production numbers, It is a very exclusive pace car, second only to the 1967 which there were only 100 produced.

I'm pretty sure they all were. I've never once seen one that was a manual. I am completely against automatics in Camaros, but I love the 93 pace car so much that I could deal with it. :) Are you thinking about getting one? I'd be jealous...:p

Actually there was one factory built 6-spd Indy pace car replica. It was specially built for Vince Piggins if I recall correctly. It was on display in the Chevrolet tent during May back in the day.

EDIT: Apparently I'm not recalling correctly as Vince Died in '85. There was one built for a Chevy/GM big wig though. I'll do some more checking. So far haven't found squat!

OK, made a phone call. The ONE factory built 6-spd manual '93 Indy pace car replica was built for Jim Perkins who was Chevrolet General Manager at the time, and drove the pace car at the begining of the '93 Indy 500.

 you'd figure all the replicas would be modeled after the one that actually ran at the Indy, with a M6

It's a possibility that the M6 car was just a parade car and that there was a separate pace car that actually led the field.

The 6-spd was just made for Perkins as a special one-of "personal" ride. It did not have all the strobes and any other mods that were required on the actual pace cars. The car that he drove to pace the race was an automatic and did have all the strobes, lights on the roof and other mods. For whatever reason the Speedway doesn't like having manuals in the actual pace cars.
I doubt he let them use his one-of for any parade duties, had plenty of "Festival" (125 I believe) cars for that.

I wonder where that car is now, does he still have it? What's it worth?

Another correction, it was displayed in the Borg Warner tent in May '93 at the Speedway.

Someone asked Mr. Perkins about it in '04 and he still had the car. Here is a link I started on another site (pace car site) where it is discussed if you're interested.
