Screw that, my car isn't mint condition or anything but I really didn't want to cut up my car (my fuel pump went out in August), so we dropped the rear-end and then the tank.

I never thought of cutting a hole to get to the pump.

Do a search on the "trap door" and you'll see a fair number of posts about it. I just did mine this way and even wit cutting the hole and making a new cover plate, it took less than 4 hours. It would take that long just to get the gas tank loose - let alone out.

Your slow. If I didn't have to let the glue dry on the bucket overnight I would have had my racetronix pump installed in under 4hours even droping the tank. No...I didn't have a lift.

I never claimed I was fast. I took my time and it seemed like I had about half of my cutting tools in the back (I used about 8 bits in the Dremel until I switched to the grinder). The tank was dang near full when I did the swap as well.
Then add in my two helpers that like to grab tools and either dump them right where I'm working or carry one I need into the grass.
But I'll tell you this, I'll never drop the tank again after seeing how easy it is with the trap door.

Yes, but in a specific location. Do a search for where to make the cuts and how deep etc. The tank is pretty close to the sheet metal in the trunk. You could easily cut your fuel line, even slice into the tank itself. That wouldn't be pretty with sparks a flyin' !!

I have never really used power tools in my life, I did it thinking the same thing. If you've used power tools before, you'll be fine... it was real easy to cut through, forgot what cutting blade i used on the dremel though, sorry.
