Had some fun at the track tonight.

Went up to the local track tonight, Orlando Speedworld, wanted to finally get a timed run, first time going there forgot to wear pants and second time got there just barely to late, third time they were only doing 1/8 mile cuz of jr dragsters. But anyways got in two runs tonight before the rain chased us off. My first run was HORRIBLE, but I did kill a 1.8t jetta, no match I know, 14.9@96.89, but I slid the clutch like crazy because I thought I was gonna spin like crazy (315-40 HTR-Z- 30psi) b/c when I ran the 1/8 I had the tires down to 19 and still spun, launching at about 1200r's, so I figured I had to be gentle. Well next run I held the clutch down just far enough for it to be disengaged enough for me to not roll (need a line lock), and brought it up to an even grand, let the clutch out, stomped it, car bout fell on it's nose then took off, got spanked my an early (modded) lightning, 14.8@97.17. Next line up had talked to a guy with red stock 5.0, but someone blew up, then the rain came, so we left. When I was leaving and pulling out on the highway from the road to the strip, I pull out, am sittin tween the two two lanes, idle in first, look over my shoulder to see if I'm clear, and a white 5.0 going around me, I stomp it, snatch second and he's about 4 cars behind, I shut it down, slow down to 60, he gets infront of me, gets up to a light, light turns green as I'm stopping behind him, nail it, and had the keep jumping on the brakes cuz I'm about to go through his car. Even though I didn't get a good base 1/4 run, I was still happy when I got home. Sorry was so long.

Oh yeah, on the way home was trying to figure out why on my second run car fell on it's nose after I put new plugs and wires on, then realized, first time I was there and ran the 1/8s, tires were only a few weeks and wbout 300 miles old, this time tires were well broken in and stuck much better, I was planning on launching at about 2k the next run against the red 5.0.

sounds like you should spend a little less time screwin around on the street and a lot more time at the track

you sound like you're exactly right, I really do need to get up there more often. I've only had the car for two months though, and the track is about 45 min. away, but that's not really an excuse. Gonna try to, no, going, to be going back in two weeks, and I will have better numbers.
