northdakota93z28 10-14-2007, 01:30 PM i broke what i think is the oil pressure sender, i got the headers in and on but i dont think that the oil sender will fit in, it is so long and if it does fit in it will be right agains the header that will melt that, i am wondering what to do, i will order a new on on monday but i dont think it will work, any input would be great thanks
northdakota93z28 10-14-2007, 01:46 PM did a search i will put a L in there so that the sensor is right next to the block

Did the same exact thing to mine I broke the thing and was like ****....bought a new one and was like uhhh hows this going to fit in here, but it did its still pretty close the the header but haven't had a problem I put some heat wrap tape on the sender, been almost a year no problems.
Pyrodawg 10-14-2007, 04:40 PM mine broke when we were doing my header install... luckily i had a gm master tech helping me haha... he got a 90* pipe bend and put it in the hole with it pointing towards the front of the motor and made it so the sending unit is also going towards the front of the motor instead of straight out towards the header
northdakota93z28 10-14-2007, 06:08 PM that is what i am going to do,
northdakota93z28 10-14-2007, 06:12 PM my wires 5 and 6 are very close to hitting the header 5 is touching so i am wondering what my options is anyone running stock wires and if so what could i but inbetween there to help if i fired it up now it would burn 5 for sure.
dangalla 10-14-2007, 06:15 PM i think what you broke is the coolant temp sensor
northdakota93z28 10-14-2007, 06:42 PM no its oil, does anyone run stock wires and lts?

I did for about 8 months until i switched to my taylor OTVC setup I never burnt a wire the only reason I changed was because I had this kit laying around and had never gotten the chance to put them on.
northdakota93z28 10-14-2007, 08:24 PM how close was your closest wire? 1/8 inch?
Ok4thGen 10-14-2007, 09:03 PM There is absolutly no reason to have to add a elbow on the sensor to make it work with your pacesetters, just replace it as normal it will be fine.
Pyrodawg 10-14-2007, 09:32 PM no need but i wanted it done for added insurance... not like it hurts anything
Jeff H 10-14-2007, 09:42 PM I had to tie off a couple of wires to make sure they didn't hit the header tubes on my old 96 SS. I also put some heat wrap around one wire just in case. Take your time and do it right so you don't have to replace anything later on.
northdakota93z28 10-14-2007, 11:00 PM cool i will, my hands r sore, and the install was hard but i still love my car
JoeliusZ28 10-15-2007, 12:42 AM i didnt have that problem with the sender maybe its an issue on earlier cars? and if the boots are touching you will be ok. i started mine up expecting to burn multiple wires immediately and it never happened, even a year and a half later. when you replace them though you will want to do an over the valve cover routing.

yes I think all pre 95's had the oil pres. sender located up near the oil filter . Later models were located behind the intake manifold.
Ok4thGen 10-15-2007, 01:41 AM it was up until mid year 1994 that they had the sender on the side of the motor
Crows89RS 10-15-2007, 06:30 PM i broke my oil pressure sending unit when installing my headers, and I also broke the coolant temp sensor. i had read to be careful of them, but when it came down to it, I totally forgot and broke them both... haven't repaired them yet either... I got the coolant temp sensor in, but when I went to plug in the pigtail, surprise, it was melted from the headers  and I got a new oil press unit, multiple times, but it wasn't the right one either time....
