GoFast908Z 09-28-2007, 06:26 PM I detailed Myke's car last year and it looked good, but the paint seemed beyond help, it was faded pretty bad. This year we gave it a try with the PC and it restored the original color! The clear was really thin, so didn't want to use the rotary, but the PC worked great.
Clayed, 2 passes with PC and megs #80 with yellow megs pad, 2 coats of Z5 Pro w/ZFX, 1 coat Zaino Clear Seal.
Pale yellow is out, Vibrant Formula Yellow is in!

Brangeta 11-13-2007, 05:48 PM Is that one of those rare factory yellow paint jobs from '93-'94? I never did figure out the story behind those.
Chrisz24 11-16-2007, 04:42 PM Isnt a PC a rotary? I've never used one (out of fear) but am curious.
94YellowTAGT 11-20-2007, 05:27 PM I like the color. But when its time to paint mine i am going with Sunfire Yellow again. I want to keep it the orginal color.

So you own one of the one's that came from GM in yellow?
What's the story behind them? Are they a special edition?
94YellowTAGT 11-20-2007, 05:47 PM Yes i own a 94 Yellow TA. I have the window sticker from the first owner. I am the second and have had it about 8 years.
They are not a special edition. I called Pontiac twice about it the first time they said that in 93 they made 68 Yellow TA's and 93 in 1994. The second time i called they gave me a 1 of 16 number after t-tops and six speed were added to narrow it down. They said they would send me a letter stating the numbers but i never got it. I think between the two years there are less than 500 yellow firebird and Trans ams.
My good friend has a 93 hard top yellow ta. His is one of 68 as best we know.
They are rare. And i love this car. The Sunfire Yellow color code is U9929 if you needed it for anything.

I'm a fan of knowing the color numbers, but I only know them for Camaros, so thanks for the info!
It's been so long since I've seen a yellow 93 or 94 on ebay, that I started considering the ones that used to be on autotrader as repaints and the owners didn't know any better. Guess I my suspicions were wrong!
Is there a website that says this info you just told me?
94YellowTAGT 11-20-2007, 05:54 PM I got the info from calling.
My friend and i were getting together stuff but ran out of steam for a site. We have some pics up there includning a slide show of mine.

We would love to finish it but don't know where to get good info from that is reliable.
Brangeta 11-20-2007, 06:10 PM I contacted GM for all of my production info (based on color). I did it by email by going through customer service on GM.com I think.
They have access to the database, so you don't need an expert, just someone who can read english and understand your question without giving you a canned statement.
The funny thing about GM's records, is that they have NO RECORD of how many medium quasar blue Camaros were made in 1993. They have it down that it was an available color option, but the number is missing. I went around and around with them about this, but they said they had no clue why it was missing.
I think I forgot to ever do the math and figure it out by adding up all the other colors and subtracting from the total...
