Hey! My camaro has 16" wheels (convertible SS) and i need to get a new set of tires. I've been reading aroud the forum, people think good of GY GS-D3, but they're also 160$ish a piece. Is there anything else with lower cost i could buy? (245/50ZR16).

My tire has to be best on dry weather, safe on wet, occasionally help me start fast. So i'm thinking summer high performance. Nittos 555 aren't made for this size and 555-R wear too fast don't they?

Also please give links to tires that you recommend, so i can buy easier if i choose them :)

Thanks!

Hi,

Checkout the bf goodwrich kdws, I have them now and they're the best tire i've ever driven on in the wet, and they wear much slower compared to others that i have driven on. They also sound really nice when you break them loose. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?sortValue=1&resultsNumberSelected=Y&displayResults=10&compare=true&compareList=&RunFlat=All&goWhere=%252Ftires%252FCompare1.jsp&width=245%2F&ratio=50&diameter=16&startIndex=20

Why not move up to 17's? GM seems to be the only people who think the convertibles can't run 17" wheels. There are too many people doing it for it not to work.

jeff:

Do you mean KDW ("s" added as plural), or the KDWS, which is a "4 season" tire? I would think you would be giving up a bunch of dry performance with the KDWS.

I second what he says.

I'm on my 5th set. Best tire I've ever had in all areas, hands down.

I have a set of GS D3 16" with about 2000 miles on them. They have a lot of tread. I went to 18's and they be in the garage.
Intested, I'll let them go for 100 a piece plus shipping.

I'm on my 2nd set of F1 GS D3 tires. After the 1st set were ready to be replaced, it was a no brainer for me to find another set because I liked them so much.

I was talking to a buddy of mine, and we were discussing how many miles you can get from a Z rated tire. So I dug out the receipt for the 1st set and I actually got 36,000 miles out of them! I couldn't believe it.

These tires are great in dry, awesome in wet, and handle pretty well too. If you can afford them, I highly recommend the GS D3s

Thomas.

i have merit xse-v's they are made by the same people as hercules tires, they are only v-rated instead of z-rated, but they hook pretty good and have pretty good wear. I have about 15k on them with aggressive driving, and still probably 70% tread on the rears, and 80% on the front
