I went out to my 1986 IROC-Z (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2674905) this morning and opened the trunk so i could take the ttops off.

as soon as i (tried to) close the trunk the motor WOULD NOT go down but was making the 'noise' it makes non stop...while stuck in the 'up' position, rendering my Camaro's trunk unclosable and my Camaro undrivable

I disconnected and reconnected the battery with no effect. PLEASE HELP ME!! ANY TIPS GREATLY APPRECIATED

 

I'm assuming this has remote hatch release. Try unplugging the connector at the back of the remote switch to rule out the switch being stuck.
