Ok so ive pretty much decided that frank at CPT is going to rebuild the trans on my 95z28 a4. However, i would like to get some opinions on the vigilante. I know its great and is considered the best in many ways and i really like that. But is it really worth paying nearly double for?
Im having Frank do it because hes the best, and im having him do his best pakage, so does puting the best converter "vigilante" the way to go.

Hell yes! Its the best mod Ive done so far... not even close. I dropped .45 in my e.t. with it. If the rest of your tranny is going to be topnotch get a topnotch converter too!:cool:

I have been a distributor for Precision Industries for about 9 years, and the Vigilante is just about problem free. They have an excellent history, and you cannot go wrong here.

My Vigilante 3200 improved my 1/4 ET by 5 tenths. Also, the Vigilante likes to be "flashed-up" on the launch and not hard-stalled.
I like the Vigilantes so much, I also have a new back-up 3600 in the shop. Just in case I need it!

I love mine. Absolutely the most efficient converter out there. If you want a converter that has been proven, can handle 1200hp according to them, 1 free restall, and great customer service go with em. It's 100% worth the price. The headache of a converter failure that destroys the tranny is way worse than dishing out @ $700 for a vigi.

I liked by Vigilante, but my Yank is treating me much better so far.
Power efficiency and the pull of the PT Yank series cannot be matched by the Vigi IMO.

We've seen more Vigilante failures than we've seen from Yank. The Yank also seems to "hit" harder and MPH better than the Vig.
We've had 2 Vigilantes come apart, in customer cars, in the last 6 months. Precision DID cover the converters, under warranty, but that didn't make up for the transmission damage they caused. One of them was only 3 months old, before a bearing went, and shed needles into the transmission pump, destroying it.
We've had one instance where the hub was made wrong, on a Vig., and it wouldn't even fit through the pump bushing. Jacks (Precisions owner) customer service was terrible on this occassion. He refused to take credit for HIS converter being made wrong. A simple measurement of the hub proved it was infact HIS converter, not to mention the fact that 2 other converters I had fit in the transmission perfectly. My customer got so aggrivated trying to deal with Jack that he told him what he thought about the situation, and ordered a Yank...Which also fit right in the transmission.
With the prices being pretty close, the Yank is certainly a better converter.
