Painting vinyl interior?

So I have "heard" of it. But I have a 92 Mustang. and I have heard of people "painting" things like there door panel. What do they use? Is this a true and effective idea? or a waste of time?

Do you guys know of a spraypaint/die type of thing that will for this. Also on regular plastic interior trim?

Just weighing some options.

There is vinyl dye. You might have to go to a paint and body shop supply house to get it.

I had a local automotive paint shop match my interior paint and they got it spot on. They use dupont krylon paint which worked great on my a pillar trim.
