2009 Ram caught in action

2009 Ram and info

These pictures show current Dodge Ram half-ton pickups running through the desert with the next-gen Ram's front clip and improved HEMI V8. Even under the heavy camouflage, it's clear that Dodge is moving away from the Ram's trademark big rig looks in favor of better aerodynamics to help boost fuel economy. The prominent crosshair grille remains - with stronger horizontal and vertical bars and slant forward styling shared with the Dodge Charger sedan.

When it goes on sale late next summer, there should be four revised engine choices. The base 215-hp / 235 lb-ft 3.7-liter V6 will be replaced with the 260 hp / 265 lb-ft 4.0-liter V6 used in the Dodge Nitro. The Ram's 4.7-liter V8 will get the same makeover as in the Dodge Dakota, boosting power to 300 hp/ 330 lb-ft, and the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 will get a bump in displacement and power. A new Cummins 6.7-liter V8 diesel motor will also be available. Both gas and diesel V8s will use 6-speed automatic transmissions.

Thats a nice engine lineup. While the 5.9L 3v Hemi should quite the Toyota fanboys, I'm more interested in that Diesel option on the 1500. 460tq and 20/25mpg =

Looks have almost no bearing on aerodynamics. What looks aerodynamic often is not, and what looks to not be aerodynamic, may be. The Chrysler 300 has a better cd than the 4thgen cars.

From what I see, it's going to look like a Charger with a bed.

I wonder if it will look like a Tundra?

Although, it does appear that they've somewhat eliminated the low fender/headlight configuration for a more F-150 look?

Anything but this last generation. Jeez, those aren't pleasing to the eye.

From what has been said, the Rampage concept was suppose to be a look at the future '09 Rams.

They have already built quite a few final production models of this new engine and they are as we speak undergoing road testing in quite a few different vehicles.
The question is will this be VVT like in the new Viper or similar to that in the GM 6.2L V8?

It's about time. My 03 is getting a little long in the tooth. I was ready to buy a new Tundra. A 400+ Hemi with MDS would fit nicely in my garage.

The Dodge Ram look to me is soooo played out. It's hard to tell from these pics, but it doesn't look like they went that far which is bad IMO.

Although, I can't say Chevy went that far either. It's like they're all afraid of a complete fresh design... blah.

It's like having Pamala Anderson in tshirt/shorts. She still looks damn fine, but we all really want to see her in a Bikini.

The V8 diesel will likely be a 5.6L, not a 6.7.

That truck in the spy pics has a 2006 body and a 2009 front that is so covered up you can't see anything. It is too early to tell how far Dodge when with this new truck.

A diesel that gets 20/25 would be awesome
