next thing you hear from that magazine is

"Kia buys GM"

Winding Road, huh?

Gee.... because it comes from the same guys who got the jump with those Corvette pictures, I guess we should disregard the fact that the Product Chairman of General Motors has said there will be no Zeta Firebird, and the fact that GM would rather slit their wrists than to pay a royalty for the rights of the Trans Am name........

NOT!

BTW: That is a nice photoshopped Corvette in the picture. Winding Road seems to be quite good at using Vettes, huh? :p

Can someone post the fullsized pic so I don't have to register on a site I'll never ever again go to? :o

Well, at least they didn't photoshop the camaro like I've seen 100 times. Though from the small pic it looks a lot like a high end Mercedes Kompressor or something.

If you read the article, you will notice that they don't really seem to know what they are talking about. Tey say the Camaro will cost "thousands more than a Mustang" and that it will debut with the 6.0L 400HP motor.... Plus they suggest we will see an IROC car return...

True.

Tey say the Camaro will cost "thousands more than a Mustang"

Very untrue.

and that it will debut with the 6.0L 400HP motor....

Possible.

Plus they suggest we will see an IROC car return...

Possible, but very doubtful.

I said over on camaro5 that the front, to me, looks like a cross between a 2004 Sunfire and a 1993 Trans Am...

The rear is still ugly.

Personally I think this is garbage - just like their 'vette pics. But let's assume they're right :D WHY would GM wait until 2011 for a Pontiac built off Camaro? If the idea is to market the Pontiac with the Camaro, the delay would be suicide. And if GM isn't looking to joint market Camaro and Trans Am as siblings (and I'd bet a LOT at this point that they're not), then the reason for the Pontiac car to be called "Trans Am" goes away.

And although a two year offset isn't bad, they'd be taking sales away from Camaro just as it's hitting the road.....which is exactly the "help" Camaro doesn't need. Nevermind that Pontiac needs good products now - not in 2011.

The whole premise of this article just sounds SO preposterous to me......and believe me, I want a Trans Am in the WORST possible way and even I can't bring myself to believe this junk!

The only thing that I will give WR is the picture of the "KING CORVETTE" in their spy pics. It does look like a true shot of the Z** Corvette sitting in a shipping area. Go check it out and tell me what you think. It does look authentic.

As for the TA speculation, I think that Lutz has said that if the Camaro is a SMASHING success, that there MAY be other options with the platform, but that it WILL NOT be badge engineering again. 2011 is so far away given the state of Detroit auto building who knows what could happen.

We might be looking at the Hybrid 2011 Chevy Cuda by then

Since I really haven't followed all the misinformation that winding road has apparently been handing out, I will give my objective opinion on this car.

It looks like crap from every angle.

Well the vette pictures are all over the place now, and supposedly a guy is going to jail, so they must be authentic.

TA = Crap.

No way in Hell is that happening.

I actuallly think its an interesting look. I also think its one of the few photochops thats different enough from Camaro to make it sensible to build it.

Even if we know their info is way off.

Guessing the inability of anyone letting go of tying "Smokey and the Bandit" to the name Firebird and/or Trans Am.

It HAS been 30 years now, and as much as I like 70s era Trans Ams and even the movie, it seems a little silly plastering Burt Reynolds picture on every Firebird drawing.

I don't see anyone bringing up "Vanishing Point" as justification in bringing back the Challenger or "Charlie's Angels" as a selling point for the current retro Mustang.

LMAO @ their right to choose products that someone else would have to create.

Its amazing to me how people are still trying assail unassailable logic.

Even if GM ignored the bank book and reason and decided to bring Firebird back it would be nothing more than an arrowhead on the front of Camaro, and cost more.

Then they would be right back on the board posting about how GM abandoned them.

Maybe they'll start plastering Knight Rider on there instead :D

I have noticed that it seems like people think of the firebird in terms of retro-kitsch for whatever reason.

The Oshawa plant rumour for a Pontiac version of the Camaro. GM will be using letters and numbers for there Pontiac Version. Example G6, G8.

The 2 year delay does follow in the tradtion of camaro 1st then the firebird 2nd. Let it be built I will be 1st in line.
this would be the one for me.

Thats why T/A owners are the but of jokes? I loved Smokey and the Bandit as a kid. I thought the "but of the joke" was refering to Winding Road being the but of the jokes and that we may have had a Winding Road Journalist posting...

You know for a company that is as adimant about seat belts, it is a little odd that Burt Reynolds who was on a Muscle car show asking Goldberg "You dont need a seat belt do ya?"

Not bashing anyone, I just thought it was just one of those ironic things seeing that Burts movies helped sell the most F bodies ever.
