I'm just busy working and wishing time would fly faster towards springtime. As some of you all know, parts of the Northeast are under subzero to single digit temps and not a good time to wrench unless you have a blazing space heater in the garage.

Pretty sure it's the cold weather that's sending us into hibernation, just you wait and see.

I'm pretty new on this forum, but I belong to a few 'vette' forums. The best of those is corvetteforum.com and the cameroZ28.com is right up there in thier class.

I'm suprized that there aren't as many posts as I see on the vette forums, especially since there are a lot more Camaros out there than vettes.

In any case, I'm looking to post and read alot here.

Frenchy, I see you're from Ventura. My girl is from down that way. She used to live there back when. I also see you've got an 89 IROC. While I encourage you to post here, you will have more luck getting your questions answered over on thirdgen.org. great place, lots of really knowledgeable cats frequent that site. It's why I haven't posted much here in the last couple years. I used to be all about this forum, and we had a pretty good norcal following here for a while. But I don't see but a handful of the old names I used to see here anymore.

Dont worry, I respect all of you! :)

Oh, and it's 22 degrees in mid-michigan, and I've been working in my garage where it's currently 62 degrees at the floor level. Mmmm(!) R40 insulation and RUUD 93% efficient furnace, plus 32 flourescent overhead bulbs makes for a nice, bright, warm workplace! :) Did I mention the broadband and internet radio?? :D

True. This board is dominated by 4th gens and many of their owners don't think too much of us.

hey hey, i love third gens or i would have bought an lt1 instead of a tpi. Besides the body style seems to have more of the classic lines than the new cars, we have amazing torque (tpi) and decent top end, combine it with new technology in suspension and you have a great blend in muscle/sports car. The 3rd gen will never be forgotten or pushed aside, it IS the very transition from muscle car to pony car. Long live TPI!

Most people will freely acknowledge that lookswise there is no comparison. But when it comes to powerplants, TBI engines and peanut cam 305 TPIs is all they can remember. So yes, a lot of 82-92 cars don't perform well stock/near stock compared to the cars of today. However, when you build a SBC you have the most choices compared to any other engine in the world. The SBC still dominates all forms of racing and is the most versatile engine out there.

Honestly, even I sometimes forget this board is here. This place should be named LT1Camaro.com or LT1.com

The admins/mods here are so ignorant of the generation, several years ago the Tech section was divided into LS1 for the 98+ cars, LT1 for the 93-97 cars, and L98 for the 82-92 cars! They later added the "3rd gen" part after weeks of criticizm

I hate you. B/c its been so cold, I can't bear to push my car in the freezing garage (even though its attatched to the house) to try and work on it.

BTW low 60s is a great temp for working on cars, as long as you are actually working you stay nice and warm.

You wouldn't mind me bringing my car and stuff over to finish off the LS1 swap would you:D. It'd be kind far to push though:think:

i like the volume of this 3rd gen forum, i cant keep up with the lt1 forum, it moves so fast a day old post can end up on page 3
and i always check 3rd gen tech and i try and answer questions al the time

i like the body lins on the 3rd gen alot better, and with the same suspension mods a 3rd gen will take corners better

There are still some 3rd gen guys out there. Does anyone know what GM seats are a direct fit besides 4th gen? I see a lot of nice Pontiac GP and other bucket seats that look nice but don`t know if they will fit without a lot of re-engineering. The stock buckets in my `88 Iroc have got to be the most uncomfortable I have ever had.

Hey, I just joined and own 2 thirdgens and 1 fourthgen.
I choose the thirdgens any day over the 4thgens.
It cracks me up when a 4th gen looks at me in either of my Z's and think they can beat me because they are newer. HAHAHAHAHAH, they dont stand a chance, I am also lighter than a 4thgen.

my dream car and i have one!
never like the way a car looks on the road more than a black z28, im partial to the 82 to 84, but thats just me.

most ultimate street car - 87 iroc-z, sbc 434, th350, 12bolt, lots of spray...still with stock paint, interior, and stock wheels. gotta love iroc wheels!

ls1 boys stand no chance in hell!

btw i like ls1 camaros alot, only thing i hear from every one of them is, i drive a burnout machine, or it hazes the tires at every speed.

mine hooks...later slowpokes

only thing that bugs me about, camaros is lack a refinement, but hey loud and fast is what im here for, refinement is my job.
one of my fav pics. note stock wheels off the ground

I love that pic, I'm hoping to get my car to look that nice again and add that exact hood. BTW, it that hood functional, or do you have to modify it to make it actually grab air?

One day I'll get my car back together...........

Zepher
07-01-2007, 10:53 PM
Thanks.
Right now that hood is semi-functional, as it brings in air from the nostrils to both battery tray areas, so it drops cold air right onto my filter (and keeps my battery cool. :D ).
I do have the ram air box setup, but I haven't had a chance to mount it, then I will have to cut out the back of the hood right behind the nostrils to bring the air straight back.

Hi all,
Proud '89 IROC owner here! I'm in Norcal. I drive my car on weekends and lately I've been getting more and more waves, thumbs ups and offers to buy the car! (not happening!) Yesterday I was out on the freeway and a woman who was a passenger in an SUV that was in the next lane was photographing me! I think our cars are starting to be true classics!

I went from 2.77 to 3.27 and it was a really nice switch IMO. Not extreme, but definitely noticeable. I wouldn't go any higher, I still got decent mileage with the 3.27's. We'll see what the new setup gets MPG wise when she's back on the road.

I'm here. 1991 Z with the L98 that has a new bottom end rebuild. Looking to replace the heads now and beef up the tranny with a nice 2800 stall. Then suspension, then paint, then interior.... But hey, I bought the car for $500 with a straight body, spent $120 for a tune-up and a fuel pump and I can now drive it daily :D

Hello, i'ma newbie, ive had 3 camaros 88z28, 91z28, and finally, finally got what i so much desired and chased, my 25th anniv ed z28. Patience paid off. I will go into more specifics later, but just to let u know how much i wanted this; I live in California but at the time was working in El Paso Tx, took a flight to Spokane WA, then a long bus drive to somewhere in Idaho, crossed my fingers and asked the seller to promise me it would make it back to el paso, he did, and after signing all the paperwork at a circle k store, i hadnded him the cold hard cash, he handed me the title and i was outty back to El Paso. Got pulled over somewhere in Arizona where the highway pat. officer told me i should of gotten a mustang, i then told him i'd rather him add 10 more miles on my ticket (possible felony) than trade my Maro for a Stang,,he tore the ticket gave me a warning and said he admired my loyalty and the fact that i didnt kiss Stang ass to get out of tiket lol. That car not only made it to El Paso, I went to my hometown in South Tx, then back to El paso, took a trip back to cali for a few days, then brought it back to EP and now it's finally in Cali again. Cant tell u the feeling it is to take the t-tops off in San Diego and cruise down Pacific Coast highway. The only thing is that i want to eventually paint it. It's blue right now, I want it all White like my 91. Anyone else here with an all white 25th??

It has taken me 3 years to get this car running.I have had no luck with the 2 350's I have had in her. This was going to be my last attempt with a car, so I figured I might as well do it as I always wanted to do it.I still have a huge amount of work to do with the car,Interior, paint, tuning. But I hope to have it at the woodward dream cruise next week in primer.Isn't the phrase going fast is looking good?:D
