Idiot question about adjusting panhard

I picked up a aluminum double adjustable/ double rod end phb to replace my single adjustable poly/rod phb that developed a death rattle in the rod end.

I got it on the car and all, and it was rattling when I went to drive it. I understand now after I searched that it's changing length because I was tightening it with the suspension unloaded. I will do it loaded tommorow, but I also ran across the thread showing how to get it even on both sides.

My question is, how the hell do you adjust it on car? I get that you loosen both jam nuts and you can rotate the bar, but isn't it just spinning between the left and right hand threads? How is it moving the car over the axle?

Mine looks similiar to this.

It changes length because one rod end has clockwise threads and the other end has counter clockwise threads so the bar changes length as you twist it.

I knew it had left and right hand threads, but for some reason I couldn't picture it working out. Now I can visualize that if I loosedn it on one side, it is essentially widening the other at the same time.

I have no idea why i couldn't visualize that to begin with. Thanks.
