Just disgusting to look at and if this report is correct, absolutely NO performance upgrades. Are they actually serious about this? What year do they think they are competing in?

you've got to be kidding about there being no performance upgrades.... the Torrent normally comes with a 185hp 3.4L v6... this comes with a much more sophisticated 3.6L DOHC and a lot more hp with 263hp

you are right about the G6 though.. same engine, same transmission.. seems like just a body kit.. and while some may consider it a bit over the top.. i am kinda digging it

Torrent looks good.

G6 front end is, um, interesting, but I think it looks ok. That rear wing is absurd, though.

I'd rather have a regular GTP with the same powertrain (not to mention a GT with the 3.9L / six speed manual combo).

The SPO G6 wing looks WAY better than that parcel shelf POS. It makes the Cobalt SS wing look downright normal.

Not certifying the M6 with the 3.6 is an F-ing, cruel-ass joke. If that seems harsh, its meant to be. A tuner-style car with an AT...

RIGHT....

I thought Pontiac was going to be more restrained with their styling. Unfortunately it seems they're back to their Bugs Bunny look on front the G6, and a truly tacky wing out back :(

The G6 will look good in person ...but ( why does there always seems to be a but ) that wing is beyond rediculous . Only other gripe , and its a big one .... why on earth were the lesser model wheels carried over on the top of the line GXP .

Quite an overload of stuff on the G6 IMHO. Takes away from the clean lines that the G6 has.

Its a pretty sharp car minus the spoiler. I would hope the G6 GXP would boast a little more power though. Afterall, didn't the GTP have 240hp?

No performance upgrades?
Huge ugly wing on the back?
More/larger openings in the front?

Should do well with the rice crowd.

Edit: Is this identical to the concept from SEMA '05?

That is what I was thinking, from the pics. in the link to GMI.

Why is the 3.6 detuned in the G6 GXP by 10 or so horsepower? Why no manual gear box in what is suppose to be the top of the line perfromance model

The Torrent GXP (I thought they were going to call it GT) looks nice. I've test drove a few regular Torrents over the past couple of months and me and my wife are leaning towards getting one maybe in the summer since we have our first baby on the way which will be arriving in July. I love to hold off for a GXP, but I wonder how affordable they will be.

The G6 is pretty horrendous in my view. But, what do I know, we'll see how it sells.

And the G6 still comes as a GT, GTP in addition to the GXP? Hope Joe Consumer knows what's what. Maybe they'll just ask for the new "whale-tail, ram air, fwd, automatic, droopy grille thing".

That picture of the G6 made me throw up in my mouth a little...

The G6 GXP looks horrendous and will be a waste of money for all but ricers. I really couldn't care less about the Torrent, will never be in the market for that kind of vehicle.

I see it still has the 4wd stance. The worst part of the G-6 for me is the interior. If they pimped it like they did with the Aura I bet many could overlook the typical pontiac gawdy overkill styling :)

Sure looks that way. Only the SEMA show car had better wheels (which seem to make a big difference in this car's look, IMO).

And all we've heard is that Pontiac needs to lose its boy-racer look, that the cladded up '90s Pontiacs and cartoonish '98-02 WS6 were an embarrassment, and that even a GTO couldn't have hood scoops until it was too late. Now they seem desperate to get that audience back.

I strongly disagree.

Are the any better pics. of the Torrent GXP out there, I did a search and didn't come up with anything. Looking for pics. of the rear and addtional interior shots.

I strongly disagree.

So do I, but that's what was being pushed down our throats. Find a Pontiac review by one of the popular mags from that period that doesn't mention it. GM bought into it and thus the de-clad Grand Am at the end of its run and the generally sedate look of the current lineup. And now this G6 GXP grossly mates the two philosophies.
