I just spoke with a dealer down here who says they've got a 5-speed V8 LS1 Trans Am from 1999. Haven't been able to check the car out in person, but is this even possible?

5-speed 1999 Trans Ams? Not made, correct?miaminick 11-13-2006, 05:29 PM I just spoke with a dealer down here who says they've got a 5-speed V8 LS1 Trans Am from 1999. Haven't been able to check the car out in person, but is this even possible? 96SFLZ 11-13-2006, 06:08 PM Not unless someone swapped a 5-speed in there. Auto = 4 Manual = 6 From '93-'02. robvas 11-13-2006, 07:35 PM It's a 6 speed unless: It's a V6 Firebird (5-speed) and the guy is saying it's a Trans Am for some reason My money is that it's a 6 speed but the guy doesn't know any better. Not all car salesmen live breathe and eat f-bodies. JakeRobb 11-13-2006, 11:33 PM Yeah, he probably just doesn't realize it has a sixth gear. Tons of people use "five speed" as if it means "manual transmission" and have no idea that it could be anything else. It gets even more annoying now that there are five-speed and six-speed automatics. IXLR894Z28 11-14-2006, 08:08 AM I agree with the above, its either a v6 5 speed, or the salesman saw the stick and assumed. Ultra_Dog 11-14-2006, 01:59 PM Car dealer are notorious BS'ers. I sent an eMail to an Ebay dealer because he misnamed his Z28 as an SS. He wrote back furious that I would intercede in his attempt to lie and misrepresent his car. Car dealers will misrepresent anything to get a sucker to buy. Beware all that is spoken, do you own homework, ensure accuracy. | ||
