Daily drive your F-Body in the southwest?
Daily drive your F-Body in the southwest?
I'm possibly moving down to the southwest and if I do will be picking up another 4th gen as a daily driver. Just curious how you all like them as a daily driver down there. I'd pick up an LS1 M6 car for sure. Do they like to get real hot on those summer days when you're stuck in traffic?
How do you like em day to day out there? I loved mine in the summer up here...

This is the best place to drive an F-Body.
They can get warm with stock tune/thermostat, but that's the way GM wants it. Buy my car and it won't. MadZ28 tune and 160 thermostat keeps my car cool even when it's 100+ and I'm stuck in traffic.

I would definately recommend an A4 (or TH350 conversion) for the traffic here. I have had commutes of 40 miles that can take 4+ hours (91 fwy from Orange County to Riverside). A manual gets REAL old real fast. That is the only reason mine still has the A4. I no longer daily drive mine as I have other vehicles and the fact that it was down for 6 months this year, but i could, if needed jump in it and drive it almost any day of the year.
The olny time I would worry about driving the car would be during the first couple of rains of the year or if we get a real heavy rain. The first one because the roads are extremely slick from the oils leaching out of the pavement and the fact that nobody will slow down or allow enough following distance out here. The second because of the fact that the storm drains can't handle much more than about 1/2" of water per hour and the streets start to flood at that point you need an amtrack.

But why would you want to leave lovely Okemos, MI?
Just kidding, I have relatives there and fully understand why you would want to get out. And the answer is, yes, plenty of people drive their's every day. At least until they mod them past being reliable and then buy something else to drive while they work on the fbody...
