Mcleod Clutch single disk too thick?
Mcleod Clutch single disk too thick?
I was having disengagment issues with my single disk and lt4 pp w/ reman. flywheel from autozone. Took the clutch out and measured it, about .340" mcleod says that they should be at around .325-.335, someone on the board swaid .300. Is that difference significant enough to make a difference, is it worth sending back to mcleod? I cant shift much at all w/ the car out the clutch is disengaging but not enough.
Re: Mcleod Clutch single disk too thick?
Might check the torque on your P Plate bolts. Should be 22 foot lbs. Too tight and it can cause problems. Just something to check first.
I saw where someone else had Mcleod SD issues like yours. Maybe there is a bad batch of disks floating around.

Re: Mcleod Clutch single disk too thick?
I posted a measurement question awhile back. Because, I have mine apart and was trying to determine if it was any good. No one replied. But I still have mine apart and measured it. My flywheel is 1.806 and my disc is .297 inches. Don't know if this will help you or not.
Re: Mcleod Clutch single disk too thick?
well I am not sure. I bought the car used with a bad motor, thats why I wanted to know what the disc should measure. I have it all apart right now. The disc looks fine I just wasn't sure if it was good or bad. The guy who had it before me said the clutch was replaced once. The car has 168,000 and the disc says valeo on it. So I guess its not factory.
Re: Mcleod Clutch single disk too thick?
I read your post in my thread.
I think I read somewhere that McLeod makes their FW's a bit thicker on the trans side to avoid having to shim the slave CYL. I'm going to get some time from work on Tues to throw in my McLeod ADJ MAster and do the drill mod while I'm @ it. And rebleed the system while the master is out. We'll see how that works. I'll subscribe and let you know then what happened. For now I'll have to just limp my car around.

Anyways I just moved on since my cars been down 3 months, I need it running by next weekend so I just bought a Ram Powergrip clutch kit online and hopefully that will work instead of the mcleod.
I was maxing out my pp throw and the disc wasnt disengaging all the way still.
