I think you're good with 6200.

I've had mine raised to 6400 RPM, and shifted just before the limiter, and my motor seems to be holding up still? Be careful if you've got an M6 (6-speed) ... the higher you rev, the more chance of hurting something if you over-rev / miss a shift (namely, bending pushrods , or worse, float valves and hit a piston :( ).

However, on a stock engine, you're really not going to gain much by going beyond the stock ~6200 RPM limiter anyway. My main reason at the time was because I had an A4 w/2.73 gears, and in the 1/4 mile, I was crossing the traps just at the top of 2nd gear, but pinging off the rev limiter. By bumping it up to ~6400, I could hold it in 2nd and make it across the line before hitting 6400 RPM . Otherwise, I normally shift no later than ~6200 RPM anyways (whether with original A4 or now with M6).

Thanks for the info! yea the cars gotta m6 and its hard keep an eye on the tach i've missed 3rd a few times. also with the loudmouth system its hard to shift by the engine note. i put the b&m shifter in and it seems to help with 3rd gear rips but i would like to get a shiftlight. any thoughts on brand? are they hard to install? any clean place to install? thanks for any help!
