Powerdyne and belt slippage

I find I have to retension every couple of weeks. Has anyone tried very thin cross-cuts on the supercharger pulley to eliminate belt slip? Is there an 8 rib set of pulleys available (cost?)? Someone mentioned a Ford truck belt tensioner could be used to tension another brand of supercharger (ATI ?) but never identified what model Ford it was from. Is that piece or something similar usable on a Powerdyne?

Have you tried tightening the hell out of it or even buying a new belt?

Re: Powerdyne and belt slippage

I retighten until the belt is very firm. I switched to one of the Goodyear "Gatorback" belts and assumed it would take a few cycles to get the initial stretch out of it but months later it still will slip. A few weeks after tightening it will start slipping ~ 4500 rpm. Belt and pulleys are clean and dry.

Smile Re: Powerdyne and belt slippage

Thanks for the replies guys. I was just surprised to find that the "low pressure" Powerdyne had slip problems. I hadn't read of that and thought owners had a fix. Perhaps my unit not broken in yet. (only about 2000 miles on it ... it also is "adult driven" so it doesn't get hammered everytime it's on the road. http://web.camaross.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Lightbulb Re: Powerdyne and belt slippage

Thanks for the KaTech reference. I'll give them a call. Though the text on that page seems to say the tensioner is fixed (they call it solid-adjustable). It does seem to have an 8 rib belt pulley and the 928 Supercharger guy has an 8 rib head unit pulley available. I think I can mod the Powerdyne crank pulley to use an 8 rib. My concern was an 8 rib tension pulley. The P-Dyne is a composite and I was leery of trying to alter it.

You can get back some psi with a Reichard racing pulley http://need-4-speed.com/reichardracing.htm

I made 1 myself, it took me a whole day to it right but it works for me

Question Re: Powerdyne and belt slippage

"Pavement Pounder"
Did you just slot the surface of the pulley or did you drill the holes under the slots too?
