Well, last night i was beating the hell outa my car when it suddenly started loosing power past 5K rpm, so a let out of it and the car was running ROUGH! and i mean rough, almost not running. Basicly like an extremly large cam.

So back to the shop, and teardown

Verdict:
Intake valve spring retainer for #6 broke, ripped middle right out. :(
Valve was almost all the way up, and jammed!
Pulled head to find piston walls were completly untouched, Valve just bent
Piston had slight dent near valve reliefs, but looked ok.
Head was fine, no damage.

You guys think the piston is ok to put back together without replacement? The valve reliefs are still 100% intact

Pistons aren't that expensive, so if you can spare it, i'd say replace.

Of course, I'd also suggest putting in a forged, low-compression bottom end and buying a turbo....you know, while you have it apart:D

Most times the piston will be fine, it's the valve, valve seat and valve guide that can be a little torn up.

What did you have for springs? Might want to look at that and replace them as well as the retainers to keep it from happening again. Could be as simple as the wrong locks.

Lucky you. I busted a #6 Exhaust valve spring (Manley Springs). Car ran like total doo doo.
