Ford pushes toy Fusions in Kids Cereals????

Back when I was growing up, I loved collecting Hot Wheels. Corvettes, Ferraris, Lambos, the General Lee, Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds....I don't think I ever thought "man I really wish I could get my hands on a Taurus."

Ford has really done some weird things lately with their marketing. I can't think of a single kid who wants a toy copy of the car their parents tote them to soccer practice in. Maybe this is aimed at parents more than the kids?

Kids like free toys. A 4 year old isn't going to be as picky as a 34 year old, they will think a free car is cool. It helps put the Ford name out there to two important groups. Parents (those buying the cereal) and potential future customers (Kids who are just learning of the Ford brand). Hook kids early on your brand, make them think it is fun and cool, McDonalds does it.

Old idea actually. Back in the mid-fifties we got little plastic Fords and Mercurys in Post cereals.
