will these tires fit?

Couldnt find this in a search for some reason....

set of 17x8.5 wheels...and im looking to put 275-40-17's on....will they fit correctly?

Pretty much all 275/40-17s are meant to go on wheels that are a minimum 9" wide. Dunlop SP9000's are an exception, allowing an 8.5" wide wheel.

245/45-17s are a better match for 17x8.5's.
