Hi guys, i was driving around town, minding my own buisness. Then a silver 00-04 porsche carrera2 (with a GT2 wing) was following me and gaining on me.

Several minutes later, we were side by side. Then it was on, i started i 2 second gear around 3k rpm, and floor it, he does the same instantly.

I pull on him around 3/4 of a car (maybe 1) i was waiting for the LEGENDARY third gear in my LS-1, i shift as soon as possible to 3rd, and OH MY GOD!!!!

I SHIFTED TO 5th!!!!!!!, and of course, he gain back and beat me.

DAMN i was angry as hell, now i`m sure he`s gonna tell all of his porsche friends that he beat a LS-1. And i am completly sure i was going to kill him.

I planned on let it off at top of 3rd.

i did that on my lt1 like 20 times until i got the b&m short shift. I think it helps a lot. Sluggish stock hurst was messing me up.

 

RECOVERY man, work on your RECOVERY!!! What you needed to say here is that you got it back into 4th, reeled him in, and smoked his a$$ for the 2nd time in 1 race!!!

I never did that with my stock shifter, but, one more than one occasion, I did shift with no confidence and have to let out of it to make sure I was in the right gear ...

Buying a Pro 5.0 shifter is the best thing that ever happened to my car. Ok maybe Open headers are better, but it is pretty sweet.

 

at leaste you didnt hit 1st and blow the motor. I missed a couple shifts cuz of the **** stock shifter too, now its out and Im putting in a hurst comp plus w/ short stick. Should help a lot.

 

most of you m6 guys flame an a4, but i never missed a shift good death tho

I had a problem of hitting th-ifth with the stock shifter. It would go into the space between 3rd an 5th and the reverse lights would come on but I would get no gear. damn bushings on the stock shifter. Put a ripper on and had no problems since.

Ive done that a couple times at the track and some of my friends were "why did you put it in reverse?" If it engaged into reverse i wouldnt be driving it home. i always thought i was just a jack*ss because reverse is all the way over there.

 

At the track I went from 3rd @ 6800 to 2nd.....

I didn't drive home that night. Bye bye oem clutch.

 

i always worry about that (car breaking) while at the track. its an hour ride form home to the track, so that would be a expensive tow truck ride home.

 

A home made car dolly from a scrap car axle and some old stell plating laying around makes a nice investment So does having a Dad with a Cummins Ram
