Oil pan Gasket

How hard would it be to replace a oil pan gasket on a 98 Firebird?? TIA

But the manual says:

Remove the oil level sensor, located in the oil pan, before the oil pan is removed. The sensor may be damaged if the oil pan is removed first.

EDIT: thigtening spec for the oil pan bolt is 14Nm or 125 Lb In and for the Oil Level Indicator Tube Nut
19Nm or 14 Lb Ft

So it is pretty straight forward remove put new gasket on then install?? lol I have never worked on the V6 before lol. Is there a write up about it somewhere??

Yes, that's all...... I have the shop manual and there is only one picture with the level sensor.... I think it's very easy.... okay you must buy a new gasket before you starting work :D

What manual do you have? Helms? My Haynes did not say anything like that!
You have to slid the engine forward to remove the pan i think. I dont know, I took my engine completely out first.

The Haynes is not a godd source for detailed info's about our cars!

I have the original GM shop manuals from 1997 up....
The 1998 F-Body has the 3,8L L36 V6 engine and the manual says nothing to slide the engine.... (I hope this is true)

I think you must unplug the leve sensor for better handling.....

I'm just saying I think you have to slide the engine forward because the k-member will get in the way of the oil pan.
