Switching seats

My car has a manual drivers seat and its torn to pieces. I found someone selling a manual passenger seat and i wanted to know if could just unbolt my drivers seat and place the passenger seat on the driver side?

Re: Switching seats

The fabric/leather covers are identicle side to side. I'd buy the seat, strip it of its foam and fabric and then put the good stuff on your current drivers seat.

Here is a few pictures of the seat apart...

Re: Switching seats

It is simple to strip the seat. Otherwise, the recline handle will be on the wrong side.

There is a single zipper along the bottom of the seatback. Unzip it and remove the cover like a big sock. To reinstall, just turn it inside out and feed it over from the top down. It's really very simple. I recovered both my seats myself in a hour. Doing it any other way would be half-assed.

Re: Switching seats

Okay maybe i am not saying this correctly. But i dont want to just unbolt the passenger seat with the rails and all. I want to unbolt the seat from the passenger side rail and then bolt it on to the driver side rail.. is that possible?

OH! -- I just got wht you were saying. You are totally right. Can you resend your link to breaking the seats down? The link didnt seem to work.

Re: Switching seats

Just for the record, yes you can take them off the rails and swap them.

Shibb..

Whats up man?

Anyhow -- I think it would be a better move to unbolt the drivers seat of the donor car from the powre rails and then bolt the seat on to my manual rails. the passenger seat would be stupid

Well, yeah... If you can do that it would be even easier. You made it sound like you could only get the passenger seat. LOL.

Re: Switching seats

dubb, is the car fixed yet?

Yes you can do that. I've already done it a couple times. Took the seats off the manual racks, and moved them to power racks. It is four big bolts underneath the seat, obviously. I think they were 13mm. Don't remember forsure.
