Just installed a Manual Fan Switch

I bought it off Ebay for thirty bucks.
I don't know why I didn't do this years ago.

It's always bugged me that my car runs so hot.
Now - Not.

Cheapest, easiest and best mod EVER.

Ever since I got my PCM tuned by Ion I never see a temp higher than ~190*

Re: Just installed a Manual Fan Switch

I thought about that.

I may very well do that in the winter when I'm not driving my car - at this time I don't want to be out commision for three+ weeks waiting for that PCM to come back.

In the meantime - I have a manual adjustment at least.

$30? Coulda done it under $10 with a standard switch and a few feet of wire. Cool anyway, especially at the dragstrip.

Ditto to that. Mine cost a whopping $4.50 in parts.

Mine was free since I had the parts, and wires around the house. Definitely worth it. I have a small write up of making/installing one if anyone needs it too.

Re: Just installed a Manual Fan Switch

Meh........I couldn't be bothered to run around and get all the parts and put them together.

I can easily make more than 30 bucks in the time it would take.

Do most of you just leave the low speed fan on or high?

Re: Just installed a Manual Fan Switch

I'll just leave mine in the middle position (normal fan operation) until in traffic and then turn it on to high.

Re: Just installed a Manual Fan Switch

I left my high fan on while driving home from work one night and it struggled to get over 160 and this was the computer temp, not the gauge temp.

Re: Just installed a Manual Fan Switch

I had a problem with the temp in my car, it seemed like the fans would work when they felt like it. Some days i could drive around and the temp gauge would be normal, never a problem. Other days, i'd freak out because the fans never turned on and the temp would shoot real high. I got sick of it and put my own manual fan switch in and used it like you are now, only putting it on when needed.

After i had my PCM tuned by PCMforless, it's now just a show piece. The fans work just like they're supposed to and i've never come close to overheating since the tune. Great mod tho

Re: Just installed a Manual Fan Switch

I like the adjustable fan switch from Advance Auto, zip tie the sensor to the side of the radiator tank, connect the wires to the lead on the high temp fan switch in the head. Pretty simple and it works fine.
