Saw this Touareg in my apartment complex. Its a european one thats been imported Id think. Might be a better option for those that cant afford or think a V10 twin turbo diesel is over-kill.

I don't think those exist. The V10 TD is pretty killer though; 533 pound feet of torque, easily over 610+ with the chip.

V6 TDI does exist, just not in the NA market. That particular car has manufacturer plates so either VW is testing it or more than likely another manufacturer is testing it against their product. My guess would be Jeep is testing it against their upcoming Blutec Grand Cherokee since it was in Rochester Hills. The CTC is right around the corner.

Well, the VW/Audi building is also like a mile down the street from my apartment.

True, I just dont think VW has much reason to be testing that model here right now. Im not aware of any plans for VW to bring the Touareg TDI to NA or of any changes to the TDI powertrain for Europe that would warrant testing.

However Jeep does have new diesel products coming soon to NA and Europe. The Touareg TDI would be in competition with the Blutec Grand Cherokee in Europe. Plus I've seen a few groups of the G.C. blutec's testing with the V6 touareg's lately.

Edit: I didnt notice before, but that does have the new tail lights for the refreshed 2007 Touareg. So it's either just the euro-spec refresh or a compro test for Jeep
