Water spots!!!
Water spots!!!
I parked my Hawk at work the other day, and the sprinklers came on while I was inside. Came back to the car, and found it covered with these water spots. I've washed the car twice, tried Zaino scratch remover, the two 3M polishes, vinegar, alcohol, dish soap, nothing works. They are all over the car, including the glass (Windex doesnt take them off the glass either). I'm kind of at my wits end here. The car has about 10 coats of Z2 on it, so the finish should be well protected. Any suggestions as to how to get these water spots off?
(I'm prepared to strip off the Zaino; how do you take all the Zaino off the car?)

Re: Water spots!!!
You'll have to find a paint polish that is tough enough to handle them. A machine would help greatly.
Any area that you use the abrasive polishes will completely remove any wax/sealant on the finish.

Re: Water spots!!!
If you want to remove all the Zaino and/or wax just was it a couple time with dawn dish soap. If that take the water spots off then you can start over. I do this to mine every so often and begin again.
Re: Water spots!!!
i just had the same thing happen to my truck. im also wondering how the hell i can get them off. i tried dish soap, wax, and a clay bar. i wont try rubbing compound, that is way too abrasive. need help!!!
Re: Water spots!!!
Anyone replying actually USE Zaino?
Dude... email or call Sal at Zaino, he may have a REAL suggestion. I believe that Zaino can be removed with alcohol, but why not talk to the guy who makes and sells the stuff? By all reports, he's REALLY helpful.
I sure wouldn't start hitting MY car with abrasive products to remove water spots.
i'd also try to find the bulding engineer and find out what if any chemical is run in the sprinklers.
(Zaino makes a nice glass polish that should clear up the glass.)

Re: Water spots!!!
I finally got them off, but only after a lot of work.
I washed the car three times with Dawn.
Then tried iso alcohol, vinegar, and a water/alcohol/vinegar mix.
Tried the Zaino gloss enhancer/quick detail spray. No luck.
Then resorted to Megiars Color X, by hand, on the spots.
And finally some of the Zaino swirl remover, both by hand and machine.
Success! On the glass, I found a product at the Acura dealer called "Glass deposit remover", goes on like a wax, took all the spots off.
Meguiars makes a product specifically for removing water spots, aimed at getting them off boats, but I haven't tried it.
Needless to say, I don't park anywhere near the sprinklers at work!
Moral of the story: if you see water spots, get to work immediately, don't give them time to set (even if its only a couple of days).

Re: Water spots!!!
they are mineral deposits, thats why they won't wipe off... i just ran into this problem... they have been on my car for a few days now and my car hadn't been waxed in like a year ( a real waxing) so im afraid there is nothing to strip besides paint or clearcoat (DON'T want to do that) what should I do??
i would LOVE a recommendation... its driving me NUTS
