Rollbar labor costs?

I talked with a local shop about welding up my Wolfe 6-point rollbar, and they told me it'd be between $400 and $750 for labor...and this is if I take all the interior out myself!!! Does this sound like a ripoff...or is it really that much of a pain to weld a pre-fabbed, jig-notched rollbar? I mean, I only paid a shop $65 to weld in my double-diamond subframes...:confused:

I think I paid $350 to have an S&W 8-point put in. That was with me removing and installing the interior and the tubes were notched.

Damn, didn't think a simple weld job would be that expensive...:eek:

even a pre made kit thats notched needs work, I put a S&w in mine and we had to bend every bar other than the main hoop to how I wanted it and notch every end, yes there notched already but to make a nice weld job they need to be closer, me and my friend spent a day on just bending and welding mine in and I had the interior out before Itook it to his place, so that sounds about right, I only gave my friend 200 bucks ,but thats between friends and a lot of my help he normally gets around 500 for a normal install.

We build and check our Roll bars and Roll cages on jigs that we have built. They duplicate the inside dimensions of the particular vehicle. Each bar is placed and located on the jig as if it were in the vehicle. This allows us to make sure each bar is bent correctly and cut to the right length. This also allows us to completely fit each bar to the main hoop and floor as if we were installing it in the car. We are notching the ends of the bars where they meet up with the main hoop. All the fitting is done, and done in the correct location, as the bar is designed. We also scribe the main hoop as to where each bar is to be located. This allows you to just weld the plates to the floor, locate your main hoop in the car, line up the other bars with the scribe marks, tack it in, and then weld it all together. We like this process so much, that all the roll bars and roll cages we install in our shop are jig notched. We have found that it cuts our installation time about in half.

if you need it done and cant do it yourself....? hell i just paid a few hundred for someone to push a few buttons and plug in a few cables for my network because i didnt know how. but anyway......
local guy told my he gets $100/point and thats with me removing the interior. i just picked up a 8pt from s+w. i wish it was only $350 like stroked paid.

I was quoted $650 for a mild steel 6pt, that was labor and materials.

a local guy here in michigan, charges between $175-$200.00 per point for chromoly. materials and labor. if you ordered a cage jig notched from wolferacecraft, then it should not cost that much just to weld in.
