ZaneO 05-07-2006, 07:03 PM I headed to Dallas this past weekend and detailed a friend's C5 while I was there. It had some moderate swirling he wanted taken care of and requested that I "Zaino it." This car had more orange peel than any other GM vehicle I've done.

DustinZ28 05-07-2006, 08:22 PM looks good bro, nice vette
MonkeyBoneSS 05-07-2006, 08:57 PM very nice, and very deep!!
lil305gta 05-08-2006, 03:26 AM Zane...wtf do you do to get the deep wet look! My TA looks nice but not as good as your detail jobs. Any suggestions fo mr?
'99 SS 05-08-2006, 09:37 AM Another great job Zane. :thumb:
lil305gta, have you used Zaino's Z2 and Z8?
lil305gta 05-08-2006, 12:38 PM Haven't tried the Z8, so far i have on coat 2 coats of Z5 and on coat of Z2 with a coat of Z6 gloss enhancer. Is the Z8 that much better?
'99 SS 05-08-2006, 12:52 PM IMO, Z8 is pretty darn good stuff! :D I was at a car show recently, and about 12 to 15 of us "caravaned" to the show. Out of the 12 to 15, I'd say 10 guys were using Z8 to prep their cars. It really is good stuff.
ZaneO 05-08-2006, 12:53 PM Thanks for the compliments!

The true depth, shine, and color come from proper prep work (ie. the polishing steps). Waxes and sealants are just "icing on the cake" after correctly prepping.
StephenDeli22 05-12-2006, 05:35 PM Did you apply the waxes by hand or use an orbital/rotary tool?

The sealant was applied by hand.
2000SilverLS1 05-13-2006, 10:08 PM the orange peel could be a sign of repainting. i used to detail cars for meguiars and it was always easy to spot.

Most every GM vehicle I've detailed has at least a fair amount of orange peel. There were no signs of a repaint.
2000SilverLS1 05-17-2006, 07:27 PM ya i agree with the gm cars having the orange peel. but since you mentioned it, i thought it was a little more than normal.
EHuff 05-17-2006, 07:42 PM What is the "Orange Peel"?
ZaneO 05-17-2006, 08:27 PM What is the "Orange Peel"?
Uneven clearcoat application causes the finish to resemble the peel of an orange.
68z28 05-18-2006, 04:55 PM Zane, what was the Eagle Wet you mentioned that you used in the wheel wells? Is it a tire wet?, my wheel wells could use a treatment like that. Nice job on the vette, btw.

Yes, Eagle One Wet tire dressing.

Generally, yes, but not always.

What are those products you used with the Porter Cable? Im really debating on whether or not to buy a PC and am curious as to what products I would need to get in order to fully utilize it. Thanks!

Not sure what you mean? Poorboy's Swirl and Scratch Remover 2.5, Menzerna PO106FF, and Klasse All-in-One are the names of the products.
eagleknight97 05-30-2006, 07:37 AM That was it, just wondering the full names of the products.
