It sounds like he may have it confused with the RS6. That car is quite impressive, both the newer v8 version and especially the old (more moddable) twin turbo v8 version from the previous 3-4 years.

Nope - the RS6 is a 450hp twin turbo v8 with AWD with a 5spd automatic. They sold for over $70k though but clean used examples are available for around half that.
It made 415 torque from 1950 to 5600 rpm and 0-100 in 10.5 seconds.

ahh.. i must have been thinking about the 2.7 bi turbo v6 on the regular a6's.
