2003/04 Jetta 1.8T @ 18PSI vs My 95 Trans Am stock w/ K&N FIPK

Hey guys a friend of mine wants to race me for some money he drives a 5-speed manual 2003/04 Jetta 1.8T @ 18PSI , he recently got some ecu upgrade chip so thats how hes at 18psi, says hes somewhere around 220/215 (his guess no dyno), If i were to race him in my 1995 Trans Am w/ just a K&N FIPK (Auto transmission w/ performance mode) wht would be the outcome? We will most likely race tomorrow n i wanted to know how much i should put down? My car has 3.23 gears from the factory and it shifts into 2nd (70mph) n 3rd around redline wit the performance mode thingy on.

Lemem know wht i should do guys

We will most likely do runs from a dig, a 10 mph roll, a 20 mph roll, a 30mph roll n maybe a 40 mph roll.
I will have a friend wit me too he wants to watch lol, he will most likely have one wit him too.

Thanks
Ado

They're in the 14s with basics, and with that chip, could be faster. I wouldn't race for more then $20. You can always lurk around vwvortex is see what people are running.

Where are you at? I race something like this a few weeks ago. It was a red turbo VW of some sort. He said he upped the boost to 18 i think.

With my mods i had him by a couple cars and still pulling by about 60mph when we cut off do to traffic. This was also spinning really badly through 1st and a bit in 2nd(we raced at a light with those stupid slick cross-walk lines).

So you shopuld beat him pretty good if you can get traction.

I wouldnt worry about him. I had a run in with an older jetta w/ turbo and it wasnt even a race. A friend of mine has a 01 civic 13psi and about 210hp and hes a low-mid 15 car. Srt4's though have the same hp but are alot lighter and we all know what they can do. Im not sure how much the jetta weighs but it looks alot heavier than the neon. Like said before never race for more than 20 bucks cuz the time you race for more your tranny will blow.

Seems like he should have more than 220hp if he is at 18PSI. I wouldnt worry about him one bit. Those 1.8T's are turds unless you really do some modding on them.

You will win easly...18psi chipped on stock K03 turbo is nothing.
My freidn has Audi a4 (front wheel drive, so its basickly the same car (same engine, same turbo), and he is SLOW (15 sec slow)

Hmm how would the race go from a 20 roll? I know his turbo kicks in somwhere around there so i dunno if he would get the jump on me or not

Dont race from a roll. if he complains about it then just say thats the downside of turbo's.

The only way he would be a race for you is from about a 90 roll. 1.8t motors like it up there. Btw: if it's a 2001 or under it has a weaker turbo and does'nt really have a chance at 14s, with just the chip.

I have a 05 Jetta GLI (1.8T) that's APR ecu reflashed....it's about 215chp, not whp. You'll walk all over him. My car is 16 psi (within a couple hp of what he's making). It should be no contest.

I agree...don't give him a rolling start. He'll lag and whine like a euro-sissy , your torque will own.
