can someone answer a stupid question about my camaro
can someone answer a stupid question about my camaro
i feel like a moron asking this but this is the situation: i broke the plastic loop thing that holds the seatbelt to the front passenger seat on my 96 z28, so i bought a new plastic loop thing. i have to unbolt the seatbelt from the floor so i can weave it through the new plastic loop and assemble everything back to the way it was.
i cant figure out how to get the plastic + imprinted cover off of the seatbelt on the floor, to expose the torx bolt that i think is under it. what am i doing wrong??

Re: can someone answer a stupid question about my camaro
if it's the same as my T/A, the part the cover snaps into has kind of an oval-shaped hole, and the cover has a d-shaped "tab" that goes through the hole...I think I was able to get it off before by just prying the hell out of it (use something wide like a putty knife), or possibly by turning it a little, prying on one side, turning more, prying more, until you get part of it to come up, then the rest should go easily.
Re: can someone answer a stupid question about my camaro
That broke off on my first Camaro and it doesn't really hurt anything. I even rolled the car and the seatbelt kept me safe. Having it there in my new one kinda sucks now.
Try using a hachsaw ot cut though the base between the two mounting screws. Slide the seatbelt though and attach. no one will notice and it save the labor to remove the seatbelts from the Floor which is a bear.

Don't hacksaw through anything, you'll never get it out again if you need to. The circle with the + imprinted in the middle pops out, it's a 3/4 circle underneath that holds it in place. Pry the outer edge up with a screwdriver and twist it out from there. The torx bolt will be tough to get out, hit it with a hammer a few times to loosen it.
