Oxidation...

I'm getting oxidation on the passenger side of my Firebird. From the top of the fenders and door down to where the body starts to roll so about 3-4 inches. Anyone know of something that will take it off. And yes I do wax the car. I just think it might be the sun here in Hawaii.

Thanks.

Have you used a clay bar on it yet? That would be the first thing I would do.

For oxidation, I'd choose a good paint cleaner/abrasive. Something like Meguiar's Body Scrub, 3M Rubbing Compound 39002, Meguiar's Fine Cut Cleaner, etc...would be sufficient, depending on the condition of the paint. Follow with a good SMR then a good wax or sealant.

FYI, if you're waxing often you shouldn't be getting any oxidation. What kind of wax are you using and how often are you applying it? You should also be claying at least once or twice a year too, and if you using a carnauba wax, cleaning every so often isn't a bad idea either.

Yes it didn't help.

I had been using Zaino until I moved to Hawaii, but the water here is to hard and the Zaino wasn't getting the paint clean. I used Zamiol (it's blue, can't remember the name of it), now using Megauiars Gold, Paint cleaner, and even tried some of the scratch remover (said it was good for oxidation as well). I wax the car about once a month. The paint is great ever where else on the car except what I posted earlier. Where can I get some of the 3M stuff??

Use a mild abrasive as Mike suggested, that is what it will take.

Which one from the list can be hand rubbed?
