what's the best clutch for me???
what's the best clutch for me???
i need to buy a clutch really soon because mine is getting worse everyday. i wanna get maybe a spec or centerforce clutch? i havn't had to replace it yet so this is new to me. i eventually want to get an LE2 package as well. whats a good clutch for street/strip and for a fairly reasonable price?
Re: what's the best clutch for me???
Im running a Centerforce dual friction and its not bad. It will hold alot of power and is very streetable. I think they are overpriced personally and wish i went with a spec, which I found to be cheaper.
Re: what's the best clutch for me???
i am running a centerforce dual friction right now but not for long. at $600-$800 depending on where you buy, centerforce is not worth the money, unless you dont mind doing a clutch job every 30-40000 miles. im putting a spec in this week ill let you know how it is.
Re: what's the best clutch for me???
I know SPEC has been looked down at by some, but I would reccomend their clutches. True, my first clutch (SPEC stage 3) when took apart with 10k drivin on it had a missing spring that fell out when I opened the bell housing. After doing some research I found that SPEC has recently upped the quality level of their clutches, and their new ones are nothing like the old ones. This shows because my old one was a #$%@! pain to break in, and when I replaced it with one of the new SPEC stage 3's, it felt like it was already broken in at mile #1! Another reason I like the SPEC clutches is the price. There's pretty much no other clutch rated at the same hp for the same amount of $. BTW, my car is driven about %75 highway, %20 city, and about %5 on the track.
Re: what's the best clutch for me???
thanks guys. what stage should i go with? are the stage 2's any good? i drive about 60% highway and the rest is city and every now and then i go to the track...
Re: what's the best clutch for me???
I have a buddy who has a 96 Z with all the bolt on's with a stock motor, and he has been running the Stage 2 for over 10k, and it still is holding up great for him. He opened it up at the 10k point and inspected it, and he still had plenty of clutch left. His combo of street vs track and strip are similar to what you describe, so I would imagine that it would work fine.
