Eagle Forged Crank
Eagle Forged Crank
i have a brand new eagle forged crank and new eagle 5.7 h beams....
now i was told that the crank is garbage and they are very unreliable....
thats what the local machine shop is telling me... he says they are garbage and most of them break with little effort.
has any one here had good luck with the eagel crank? this will be in a twin turbo 383 lt1
shooting for 600+ rear hp...
i will probably put the better bolts in the rods..
or shoud i throw all this eagle stuff in tha garbage and buy somting else?

Re: Eagle Forged Crank
I hate Chinese stuff on principle. So, I am negatively biased. That said, many people have used the Eagle forged crank and rods in hi-po setups. As good as the high-end domestic stuff (Callies, Lunati, Crower, etc.), no. But good enough, I am sorry to say, yes. As with any new parts - they need to be carefully inspected and measured to be sure they are within spec. Even top-end parts should be verified.
BTW: many shops prefer not to work with customer supplied parts, for a variety of reasons.

Re: Eagle Forged Crank
Find a new shop. I am using 4340 eagle crank on my turbocharged 383LT1 20psi. no problem. I am going to up 25-30psi this yrs. I used to have a shop telling I can't use Eagle H beam on my motor becasue bla bla. I pack my **** with out looking back. I took it to a well known shop they did nt have any problem what so ever.
As for chinese made parts and USA made. to me as long that parts have been proving to be good and reliable. I will buy it without question. Why pay $1200 for a lunati crank vs $700 is just as good. To me it a no brainer. Unless you love to spent more $$$ on a perticular products. The choice is yours.

Re: Eagle Forged Crank
I was spraying my 388 sbc real hard early last summer an broke the 010 GM block. The 2nd main web was broke from both outer bolts to the cam. I pulled the forged EAGLE crank, H-beam rods an pistons out had em checked, my machine shop said they were fine so they put em in a Dart lil M an it still runs low 9s@152 on a 350 shot.

i got the crank rods and srp pistons for 800$ lol
just for the crank local shops want 1100-1200$
the pistons will be swaped for some je 31cc dished pistons, not because i dont trust the srp pistons but because the compression will be to high with the 16cc dish they have. actually even with 31cc it will be a task to get the compression where i want it...
