Pontiac gauge cluster compatability

Hey everyone,

I am looking at replacing my gauge cluster, but want to make sure the compatibilities between years and models before buying one.

I have read posts that say, v6 and v8 clusters are interchangeable if they were that same speed (e.g. both 115 MPH speedo). But what happens if they are different speeds? I have a 150 MPH speedo now and just need to get a working cluster (don't care of the speedo speed) to get me through inspection, then I am going to put my stock one back in to so I can still accurately record mileage...

I have also heard that 97+ clusters can be used too, but are there any changes that have to be made?

Seriously, this thing will only be in for about a month or so when going through inspection and even shorter if there is nothing else that needs to be fixed during that time...

Oh yeah, would putting the wrong on in set of any codes? if so I would want to avaoid those as well because that is one less thing to have to worry about for inspection...

Thanks,

Well, I hope one from a 94 will work since I just picked it up off of ebay...
