Rear turn signals don't work
Rear turn signals don't work
I did a search but I couldn't find anyone with the exact same problem I'm having. I just picked the car up last weekend so I haven't had much time to diagnose the problem. Here's what I know so far....
Hazards- front flashers work fine, no lights in the rear
Left turn signal- front left signal turns on but doesn't flash, rear left signal does nothing
Right turn signal- front right signal turns on but doesn't flash, rear right signal does nothing
Headlights/Taillights- both work fine
Brake lights- work fine
Fog lights- driver's side works fine, pass. side is busted and unplugged
When I picked the car up Sunday, the driver's side signal WAS working but the pass. was not. Then on monday neither of them were working, and it started acting like how I described. I found a bad bulb in the pass. side taillight so I yanked that out. I didn't see any corrosion in the socket but there is a bunch of yellow gunk inside it, I'm assuming that's some sort of dilectric grease or something. Going to get a new bulb for that tonight and try it out. I also had a broken fog light with a broken bulb that was exposed. It was raining when I drove it home so I was thinking that might've created the short. I unplugged it and wrapped up the connector. I also noticed that I have no lights behind the HVAC controls, gonna check those bulbs out tonight as well. I know back when I had my IROC, my tail lights stopped working altogether due to one bad bulb behind the dash. Any other ideas?
Oh and I almost forgot, the turn signal lever seems a tad loose. Could that be the culprit? Everything else works fine on it, cruise control, wipers, signals, etc.

Re: Rear turn signals don't work
Nevermind, problem solved. Just in case anyone might read this in the future.... the problem ended up being not one, but two bad bulbs (one in each taillight). The dual filaments were throwing me off cause one bulb was completely shot, and the other would still work for brakes and headlights even though it wouldn't work for turn signals. No wonder GM switched back to the multi-colored lights in 97.
