The reason I ask is because I purchased a trans and converter from him (the punisher and a supposed to be 4000 stall) and he sends me a converter stamped 3500 . Well I call him on that and their excuse is that it should be stalling at around 3800-maybe 4000. I specifically told him I wanted a "true" 4k stall being that if I am overstalled I was going with different engine specs in the future. On one of the days I called to check on the status(delay) of the converter that he told me was being built because of it being a 4k stall , he said it was taking a little bit longer and that is why the order was delayed. But when I called on the converter being stamped 3500 after I recieved it, he mentioned it being a in stock converter not a "being built" one;) . Makes me think whatever they state on the invoice I can't really trust . Is this tranny they sent me a true 550hp rated one? or did they feel I needed one with a less hp rated one. Lou did ask me to send the converter back and they would send me a true 4k stall this time . I am avoiding all the hassle and will settle for this converter for now I guess and will look into vigilante anyways.I guess it comes down to , I want exactly what I specifically paid for.

I am running the Godfather trans from Lou without any problems....Shifts like a beast, and seems to be holding up great! I am about to see how it handles a 150 shot soon ;)
I also went with one of his stalls (2800) and havent had any problems with it either...I just wish I would have went with the 3600 stall, cause now I am thinking of upgrading..

hi all, i cant believe all the sites that are slamming maddog transmissions. i must have found 20 different sites with posts about bad experiences with the company so here's my 2 cents.
i was restoring a 83 camino ss about 5 years ago.id done the body and engine/ drive line and i puked the orig. trans. i bought 3 rebuilds from advance auto parts, all had one problem or another.after the last one garbaged itself i was besides myself.it was the sat morning before Easter and i wondered where i was going to find a trans. i lived in the central west coast of Florida at the time. so i looked through the local newspaper and found and ad for rebuilt guaranteed racing automatic transmissions so i called. i cant remember who the guy i spoke to was but he said he had a th350 sitting on the shelf minus the tail shaft and i could have it for $375 with an exchange.he said it was good up to 600 hp. i told him i wanted to come pick it up and he said he normally closed at noon but would stay open for me till i got there. how many businesses do that for you? i drove the 2 hr ride in a tropical downpour to get to his shop in tarpon springs.
he did stay open for me, and he even changed the tail shaft and installed new seal while i was there, and didn't charge me any extra. i paid the cash and went on my way home.
the next morning i was hard at it doing the trans swap.i ended up having to change flex plate and had a 3000 stall converter i wanted to put in.after i got done with the install i went for a test drive and the trans wouldn't shift..at all.
i called him the following day and he said the trans had been sitting for awhile on the shelf and sounded like there was a valve sticking in the valve body. he said i could bring the car to his shop and he would take a look at it for me or i could do it myself.so i dropped the pan and valve body and worked the valves by hand. there were 2 that were sticking. i put the trans back together and it worked great. it shifted hard and perfect. i never had another issue with it. in the following months i did engine mods and im guessing i had about 375hp or so when i was finished. hp was well below the rating he said it would take, but my point is this.i never had problem with the trans. i put about 6000 hard miles on it before i ended up having to sell the car and as far as i know the trans is still working fine.
maddogs went above and beyond to help me out and i cant say anything bad about them.i don't know what has happened to other people who have dealt with them. just a note to add.... how many products can you buy that state it is for a particular purpose and if it is installed in a modified car THERE IS NO WARRANTY! it is VOID! im helping a buddy restore a 69 442 and i was looking to contact maddogs about getting a trans for him. thats how i found out about all the sites that were trashing him. just my 2 cents, take it for what its worth. thanks

They are trashing him because the stuff is junk. I have one of those tarpon springs specials I paid a lot of money for mine though. I am pretty certain they drove some checkballs in a junkyard transmission to make it shift harder and painted it. It certainly is not built with any of the expensive stuff I PAID for. To the original poster: Get your money back! NOW! DO NOT settle! you deserve what you paid for. Take your business else where. BTW, the maddogs in tarpon springs is going by Goodfellas now, same a$$holes, same junk.
I wouldn't be surprised that onimac38 is lou himself, coming here with his first post praising a sh1tty company.

Those mad dog tranny's are complete JUNK. To top it off his staff were even worse then the product they were selling. A couple years ago I went through 3 of those tranny's that were supposed to be "built" with a stock 350. I also had to deal with, and pay for shipping, and that wasnt cheap. Michigan to Florida gets expensive! Complete JUNK and waste of time.
