Your best bet would go to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts or something to that nature, that provides a Life Time Warranty.. That way if it ever goes out again, just bring it in and get a replacement free

Life time warranty for sure. When I bought my 89 Formula it already had a replacement alternator in it, so when it died a few months later, I figured alternators would be an issue, so I popped the 30 extra bucks for an Autozone lifetime.

Good decision, as I have replaced it two more times in the 5 years I've owned the car. I've learned to keep an eagle eye on the volt gage.

If you go to Corvetteforum.com, you will find a tech article where some guy got tired of replacing the alternator on his L98, and installed a more reliable later model alternator.

If you want a Lifetime Warranty, buy a remanufactured alternater
at a Auto Parts store and you can keep replacing them at no charge. Now if you want reliabilty, buy a A/C Delco 105 amp one and no more replacing the junk ones every time they crap out.
My opinion, been there and done it.

On my 87 IROC the 105amp was stock and it lasted 12yrs. The remanufacture one 14 months so I went back to the Delco with good results so far.

I'm in the process of changing the alternator on my IROC. I'm gonna go with a remanufactured one from Pep Boys. $79.99 + core.

Quick question though:
What size torquex bits are the brackets that hold the alternator in place? The bottom one is BIG.
