jawzforlife 01-18-2006, 08:26 AM I get a miuch less retro feel from that, I like that alot better
Black Baron 01-18-2006, 08:28 AM More Future as Retro. ;)
eagleknight97 01-18-2006, 08:32 AM I like that rear end better than the current one
NikiVee 01-18-2006, 09:32 AM A caricature of the current concept.
RhinoSS 01-18-2006, 09:35 AM I'd prefer it to have a front fender well vent on both the drivers and passenger side of the car :)
Z284ever 01-18-2006, 09:36 AM I really like those.
SharpShooter_SS 01-18-2006, 10:29 AM Although I really like the concept as it was unveiled I think I like the cutouts under the headlamps - it gives the car a visual tie to the second gen cars and I think I prefer the taillamp treatment in the second picture.
I cetainly hope that all of the side sculpting curves and creases make it to production (but maybe not the gills) - gives the car a lot of character and adds aggressiveness to its demeanour.

I'm sure the will "dumb down" the creases, just they the mustang was dumbed down

.
I agree.

Somewhere I remember hearing Bob talk about the headlamp openings. I had heard they had the cutouts but can't remember why they were dropped. Potentially too retro?
Personally, I prefer it without the cutouts.

Maybe the cutouts have/had a different effect in the flesh on a real model - so to speak. Although good looking in a sketch, they may not be really workable on the real car. There are some angles and curves in the overall cutout that may be tricky to get right as part of the larger grille aperature and not spearate holes in the front facia. What do y'all think?
I think the scowling semi circular taillamps give a stronger visual tie to other Chevrolet coupes - Cobalt and Corvette than the ones that actually made it the concept.
Z28Marcus 01-18-2006, 11:17 AM Wow! Those are very nice. Thanks for posting..
I like the rear ends shown there (esp. the 2nd pic down) better than the rear of the Detroit concept. But without actually seeing them on a CG model or on a good photo-chop of the concept, I can't say if they would work with the rest of the concept in the real world.
Diognes56 01-18-2006, 11:21 AM Cool sketches :D .

0toinsanein5.4sec 01-18-2006, 02:40 PM I think it looks too much like the new eclipse in these sketches... although i the headlights in these drawings do give it less of a "1st gen only" fell of it to me
Brangeta 01-18-2006, 04:55 PM I like those drawings about 500 times better than the actual concept. In the drawings, the car looks about the size of a Ferrari 360 Modena, but the actual, physical concept looks Chrysler 300C size.
SSCamaro99_3 01-18-2006, 05:05 PM looks Chrysler 300C size.
..., but isn't. It is 10 inches shorter than a 4th gen. Very significant.

Oh, you misunderstood me, I guess I wasn't very specific. When I say it looks 300C size, I am referring to how high the top edge of the door is as well as how big and blocky the hood is. The concept seems to have a lower door sill and seems to have a more sloping hood, and I really like those aspects.
HTWLSS 01-19-2006, 01:16 PM Sangyup Lee signed the first flamed page of my press kit at the reveal. I got as many design team sigs as possible and they were all very gracious and friendly.
