congrats we love 3rd gen's
my first peice of advice is to post your car's information in a signature so that its easier for everyone to help you

84 z28
is it an lg4 (regular 305, carb) or an l69 (305 h.o.)
automatic or manual?

anyway, first thing i would do is inspect the basic ignition components to see if it could use a tune up
i.e. spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, wires

Congrats on the new car and welcome to the forums!

I would first do what was stated above, and do all the routine things...check fluid levels, change/fill them if needed, check your air filters for caked on dirt, change your fuel filter, and check all your belts for cracking.

As far as getting quicker, look into headers and a catback exhaust system. They are the best bang for your buck with these cars, and are many peoples first upgrade option. Not only will they free up your flow, and increase horsepower and throttle response, they will look and sound nice too :thumb:

Seafoam it, New AC DELCO plugs and a good wire set, cap and rotor, air, oil and fuel filters. Run a bottle of techron thru the tank. Tune carb if its carbed, change transmission and differential fluid. Change battery/belts etc......

well, from what my dad can tell, the guy i bought it off of relpaced the 305 with a 350 crate. the tranny is bone stock automatic, but the car still outruns my brothers honda. ill look into the exsaust kit, but ive already changed the oil and little things. but the symbols on the side say its a h.o. so originaly i think it came with the l69.

Welcome to the boards and congrats. on your f-body. This board is full of good information. Check out the "Search" link at the top of the page, use that to dig up previous posts and also check out the supporting vendors as they are always running sales. I've saved quite a few bucks already from them. Good luck with your future plans.
