stock hood inserts
stock hood inserts
does anyone have any pictures of the stock z28 hood with painted/aftermarket hood inserts, preferably silver on a black lt1? Im looking for something to tie me over before I can afford a new hood.
Re: stock hood inserts
I picked up these acrylic mirror inserts from subthump last summer and have yet to put them on (i store my z from sept-may)
but they are pretty cool lookin, especially if you have chrome wheels. I have been doing a lot of painting lately and am considering spraying them with a translucent red so its kind of like a red mirror look. any ways heres the link

o i also got the inserts for the rear and they kick ***.
what kinda hood you lookin to get? i m torn between a fiberglass ss hood, or that hood that has the ram air opening right at the bottom by the front facia.(forget what its called)

Re: stock hood inserts
I think your thinking of the ultraZ hood, it looks verrrry nice. Im debating between it and the SS hood, but im leaning more towards the SS because i think it ties the whole lt1 styling together nice. All my money is going towards performance and handling parts before appearance though, so Im looking for something to dress up the stocker for awhile.
Re: stock hood inserts
yep , thats the name alright. a couple of thousand later and im still not satisfied with performance either. did u get a chance to look at those inserts? I think another company makes metal ones that actually replace the plastic ones that are stock , those metal ones also have holes drilled in them so you actually could cut the hood and use them as functional hood heat extractors.
